Nyali
World - Afrocultcha
The New Sound of Lusaka, NYALI are seven young seriously talented Zambians who are determined to make it with an original style they call, Afro Culture. The name NYALI comes from the Bemba language of northern Zambia, referring to a 'shining light', the promise of hope.
The frontline consists of three outstanding vocalists, whose harmonies fuse angelically in unison and contrast beautifully with their more raunchy solo parts that summon the very spirit of Southern Africa. Backing them are four rock-steady instrumentalists and together they present an electrifying blend of Afro fusion, combining local, indigenous sounds from across the nine provinces of Zambia with groovy contemporary African rhythms. NYALI's performance and music illuminates current Zambian trends and invites audiences to gain new musical insights into one of Africa's lesser-known soundscapes.
